My style of counseling is integrative: I feel comfortable drawing from various sources depending on my clients needs and what feels right to them. Typically, I blend mindfulness based-CBT, person centered, and attachment theories. I generally operate from a systems/ feminist perspective, considering external factors and how they contribute to psychological issues. Together we would work on not only what is going on immediately in your life that has brought you to counseling, but also what factors have contributed to where you are now, how can you realistically alter them or make them serve you and how to approach this at a reasonable pace that can lead to a lasting change. My general rule is start small, stay consistent!
As a person, I believe in seeking joy in the simple things is key to a life well lived. Sunshine on your face, a cold breeze through a window while you have the heat on or exchanging a smile with a loved one. These minutiae give vibrancy to the tapestry of life. I think crying is just as important as laughing and a balance of both make you human. As a counselor, I bring my experiences (both good and bad), my enthusiasm and my humor to create a space where I hope that you’ll feel heard and know that whatever it is you’re going through in this moment, you’ll get through it.
